Posted On: 03/11/2016

On Thursday March 17th, 2016 we will celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day, or the Feast of Saint Patrick (In Irish: La Fheile Padraig). Saint Patrick is the foremost patron saint of Ireland. This holiday is largely celebrated in our Irish-American culture. Saint Patrick’s Day falls on a Thursday this year, which means we get to celebrate all weekend long. Here in South Florida’s Fort Lauderdale, we do Saint Patrick’s day the right way.

Saturday, March 12th

This is the Saturday before Saint Patrick’s Day, but you can’t miss it! On this day, downtown Fort Lauderdale will be holding its’ annual Saint Patrick’s Parade and Festival. The event starts at 10:00 a.m. and ends at 7:00 p.m. on Andrews Avenue in the Huizenga Plaza where there will be crowds of people wearing their green and drinking their beer (which might also be green). The parade is made for everyone. This event is one of Fort Lauderdale’s largest festivals and the weather is most likely staying in your favor. Here you will be able to find all the information you may be missing: http://www.stpatsftl.com/parade/ A quick second option for this day is to head over to Las Olas Boulevard where you will have the beach and an overwhelming amount of places to eat, hang out, drink and have the most fun you’ve had on Saint Patrick’s day yet!

For Thursday, March 17th - St. Patrick's Day!

On Thursday, the official Saint Patrick’s Day, show your Irish-American pride by wearing green (if you don’t, I must forewarn you – you may get pinched out of tradition). A great place to grab a beer for yourself and your friends is The Field Irish Pub & Eatery on 3281 Griffin Road. This place is decorated with an authentic pub-style indoor, the list of beers is endless and when the weather is right, you can’t go wrong with sitting on the offered outdoors patio. Once you’ve had a few round of beers, the authentic food and live Irish music will keep you here longer. If you’re still feeling lucky, you can always end your night in the Hard Rock Casino. Whatever your plans are for Saint Patrick’s Day don’t forget to wear green for luck, have fun and stay safe!
